This Monday, the death of André Marín, the sports journalist for TUDN, was reported at the age of 52. He had to abandon his participation in the different analysis spaces of the Liga MX a few months ago due to health problems.

André Marín had faced a series of illnesses that caused his health to deteriorate; in 2020, prior to the health emergency caused by Covid-19, the sports journalist was infected with a bacteria called Clostridium Difficile, which causes diarrhea, loss of appetite, weight loss and fever.

This same bacteria caused the deterioration of practically all of his lung tissue, according to David Faitelson, and it was on September 8 when it was reported that he had undergone surgery for a double lung transplant, a procedure that had gone well.

However, André Marín’s condition remained critical and he remained in the hospital, away from the spotlight. His colleagues at the Televisa-Univision television network announced that the cause of his death was related to complications in his recovery after the surgery he had undergone a little less than two weeks ago.

“Today is a truly sad day for all of us who work at MVS in this station. André Marín passed away at the age of 52, this morning. He fought until the end against an illness that had been getting worse since the days of the pandemic. He was out, they gave him a lung transplant at the end because he kept fighting and fighting, but he ended up defeated by a terrible illness. May he rest in peace,” was how David Faitelson reported the death of his colleague.

Since the diagnosis of infection with the Clostridium Difficile bacteria was confirmed, the experienced sports commentator presented different health complications that forced him to step away from his profession until he ended up in the hospital due to his delicate condition, although in his worst years the journalist had managed to move forward.

In 2022, he said that he was between life and death when, due to the deterioration of his lungs, he contracted three types of pneumonia, including the pneumococcus bacteria. This episode led to him being hospitalized for 45 days on respiratory support.

In addition, he had to frequently visit the hospital for check-ups. During one of these visits, he fell ill with pneumonia and a bacteria made it difficult for him to go out. This meant that he could not attend the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, when he was still working for Fox Sports. After his recovery, he joined TUDN.
