A Florida high school student is now in police custody after allegedly making threats to commit a school shooting in Port Orange, Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said.

On Monday morning, officers arrested a student identified as 11-year-old Carlo “Kingston” Dorelli of Creekside Middle School on a charge of making a written threat about a mass shooting, which is a felony.

Chitwood announced the arrest on his X account: “As promised, we just arrested a Creekside Middle School student who threatened to commit a shooting at Creekside or Silver Sands Middle School,” Chitwood wrote. “He had written a list of names and targets. He says it was all a joke,” he added.

At the boy’s home, officers recovered BB guns, fake ammunition, knives, swords and other weapons that he was apparently showing off to other students in a video.

The boy’s arrest comes just days after the sheriff announced in a press conference that his agency has spent nearly $21,000 in recent days investigating false school threats posted on social media.

“Parents, you don’t want to raise your kids, I’m going to start raising them. Every time we make an arrest, your kid’s picture is going to come up. And if I could do it, I’m going to take your kid out on the street so everybody can see what he’s doing,” Chitwood said.
