Los Angeles – Former President Donald Trump’s campaign (2017-2021) has released “Qué mala Kamala,” a salsa-themed song aimed at Latino voters, a key constituency that could tip the balance in the election results next November.

The video, released to coincide with the start of Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations in the US, is part of the Republican campaign’s efforts to capture this electorate which, although not monolithic, according to the latest BSP Research survey has opted for Vice President Kamala Harris with 57%.

The chorus of “Que mala Kamala” echoes “Juliana,” the hit song by Dominican Cuco Valoy, who sang with his chorus “Juliana, how bad you are, how bad you are Juliana.”

The video shows Trump driving a golf cart and saying he has a good playlist before playing the song, which includes several shots of US Vice President Kamala Harris laughing out loud.

In a statement, Jaime Flórez, Hispanic communications director for the Trump campaign and the Republican Party, attacked Democratic candidate Harris by saying that she “is trying to bring the same failed communist policies of the Joe Biden administration.”

“Former President Trump will protect the American dream and make life affordable for our families again,” Flores said, adding that throughout Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15), messages related to the Latino community will be shared.

Last June, the Republican campaign launched “Latin American for Trump,” a coalition of prominent Latinos in all fields, including industry, commerce, education, sports, faith, communications and elected officials.

Harris has not been left behind and this weekend released the video “Luchadora,” aimed at Latino men, which highlights the Democrat’s work to improve the situation at the border and her work as a prosecutor in the fight against cartels, human traffickers and international gangs.

However, both parties will have to expand their efforts to win over the Hispanic electorate, which this year will reach a “record” of 17.5 million Latino voters in November, according to projections from the National Association of Elected and Appointed Officials (Naleo).
