Ecuadorian football was shaken on Sunday, September 15. Two armed attacks during two football matches in two different regions resulted in the death of two people and two others injured.

The matches are not professional football, but amateur. According to local media, the first armed attack occurred in an area called El Coca, in the province of Orellana. A match between Nuevo Coca and Chimborazo was in full swing and was broadcast on social media.

In the video now circulating on social media, where there is evidence of the attack, you can see how around the 10th minute of the match two men on a motorcycle open fire on a person. Immediately, the players and fans present began to run away in terror. No injuries or deaths were reported in this incident.

In Coca, Orellana province, hitmen interrupted the match between Nuevo Coca and Chimborazo, entered the field and shot several players in the middle of the crowd.

Second armed attack at a football match in Ecuador

On the same day as the first attack, a game was being played in an area called El Tablazo, located in Santa Elena. Five minutes before the end of the game, two hooded men fired bursts of gunfire. This action killed two people and injured two more.

According to the Ecuadorian press, the two fatal victims were players. One was identified as Carlos Alfredo Ramírez Carranza, a footballer from Santa Elena Sporting Club, who received multiple shots. The other victim was Michael González, from Unión Futbolera, both were watching the interleague final in the open category or in this case, for people over 50 years old.
