On Tuesday, the New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners by a score of 11-2 to reach 88 victories this season and strengthen their lead in the American League East Division and secure their presence in the playoffs.
The star of the night at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park was undoubtedly Juan Soto, who with two RBIs and a home run led the Bombers to a victory in this series opener against the Mariners.
But the Dominican not only had an excellent game, but his night will be marked by several feats he achieved with his home run. The first of them was that he reached 40 home runs this season, being the first time in his career that he has achieved it.
In addition to his 40 home runs this season, Soto, at just 25 years old and seven seasons in the Major Leagues, has just reached the 200-home run mark for his career in the Majors. He has surpassed legends like Johnny Damon and active players like José Altuve.
Full lap in all stadiums
Another feat that the young Dominican achieved was hitting at least one home run in each of the Major League venues.
And T-Mobile Park was the only stadium where Soto had not hit a home run. So on Tuesday night he was able to complete the feat and now there is no stadium in the Major Leagues where the Yankees slugger has not hit a home run.
Legendary duo with Judge
Last but not least, Soto accomplished a feat in tandem with Aaron Judge that puts them on par with Yankees legends Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle.
The Judge-Soto duo is the third in the history of the New York franchise to hit at least 40 home runs each in a season.
In the 1927, 1930 and 1931 seasons, Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig did it. In 1961, Mantle and Roger Maris were the stars. Now, in 2024, Soto and Judge will join them in this select club.
