Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta spoke for the first time about the accusation made by saxophonist María Elena Ríos, in 2022, regarding the alleged sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of the 43-year-old artist.
In a letter shared with Mexican media outlet Proceso, Huerta said that the main reason she decided to break her silence regarding this situation is due to the diversity of afflictions she has suffered on a personal and professional level, such as harassment, threats, media and social lynching, as well as the harm her family has suffered due to the same situation.
According to Huerta, her relationship with Ríos began during the time they met in the Poder Prieto collective, in April 2022. In the following months, both members began an open and “absolutely consensual” relationship.
According to the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” actor, the actress’s accusation that she had been a victim of stealthing, a term that describes the action of a man removing a condom without consent during sexual intercourse, is unfounded because they both agreed not to use a condom and also told Ríos that she had had a vasectomy.
Tenoch Huerta reveals he has proof of his innocence
In the same letter, and throughout it, Huerta said that he has a variety of proofs of his innocence due to the series of WhatsApp chats, of his conversations with Ríos, which he keeps. For this reason, he assured that María Elena Ríos made a series of complaints, after the beginning of their relationship, for various aspects such as his action of associating with other members of the group.
According to Tenoch, this same situation caused the saxophonist to call him a sexual predator for the first time. After a conversation in which both exchanged their points of view and feelings, the Mexican actor said that they both decided to end their relationship on the best terms, something that was demonstrated after María Elena sent him a message, during the same time, in which she expressed her admiration for a speech he had given.
However, the situation took a radical turn after Ríos revealed, following the meeting between Huerta and Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, that the interpreter of “Güeros” was a sexual predator. According to Huerta, Ríos’ accusations unleashed a network of news and rumors that were not proven.
However, unfortunately a large part of society decided to condemn me without any evidence of what she said happened and that is why it was so hard for me to get up the courage to tell the truth, for fear of not being heard and of not being believed, but I insist, all this has caused a lot of harm to me and my family and that is why I can no longer remain silent.”
For the above, and within the same letter, the Latin actor revealed that María Elena Ríos even tried to publish her story in a media outlet in the United States, which contacted Huerta to give her the right to reply. However, and given the variety of evidence from Tenoch’s team, it was decided not to publish the news.
I must clarify that I have never received any notification of legal proceedings initiated against me, his statements have been solely and exclusively in the media, in a field where unfortunately he does not need to prove his statement for people to take it as true, because unlike in the media, before the authorities he must prove what he claims against me.
Tenoch Huerta reveals being a victim of extortion and threats
According to Huerta, and more recently, he has also become a victim of extortion by unknown persons. According to what was revealed, days before International Women’s Day, he received an SMS text in which he was threatened, presumably with money, so that he would not be mentioned or displayed during the commemoration.
In response to this, the actor decided to go to the Attorney General’s Office of Michoacán, where he was, to carry out the corresponding procedure. In the letter, Huerta indicated that the investigation is underway to find the extortionists.
I fully understand that she is the victim of a regrettable and atrocious event and I demand, like everyone else, that justice be done for this incident, but that does not give her the right to become a victimizer and now cause pain and harm to others.”
