Jacqueline Andere, one of the most iconic figures in theater and television in Mexico, has expressed her desire to return to work after a long and successful career spanning 67 years. In an interview with ‘De Primera Mano’, the talented 86-year-old actress shared that, despite not having retired, she is currently unemployed.
Andere stressed that her absence from telenovelas is not due to a decision to step away from acting, but rather to the lack of opportunities that would allow her to return to the screen. Her call for employment reflects her passion for acting and her desire to continue contributing to the world of entertainment.
“I haven’t thought about retirement. Right now, I’m unemployed, so to speak. I’m unemployed and I want to be in the forums,” she said during the interview.
The actress is highly respected in the television and theatre worlds in her native country, and her perspective on the arrival of new talent is a reflection of her maturity and professionalism. With almost seven decades of experience, she has left a significant mark on the industry, but her open attitude towards other generations demonstrates her commitment to the growth of the medium.
“No (I demand the first credit). The first credits are for the new generations, for the new girls and boys, the French credit is more than enough,” she added.
By recognising emerging talent, Andere not only positions herself as an important figure in the history of acting, but also supports the development of new voices and nuances in television storytelling. Her approach is a beautiful reminder that art evolves and that each generation brings its own style and creativity.
“As long as your body holds out, your mind holds out, working is life. We’re fine, fine, I’m ready for anything. I understand them (the producers), but they also need grandmothers, they need older aunts. I think Ana Martín is working and we are contemporaries,” she said.
