TABÚ, the new gastronomic proposal from the Artesano group, seeks to transport diners to the paradisiacal beaches of Mexico. The restaurant, located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, is inspired by Tulum, the popular coastal destination of the Riviera Maya, and fuses traditional Mexican cuisine with modern styles.
Under the direction of chef Kevin Boluarte, of Peruvian roots, the menu highlights innovative dishes such as aguachile rojo from Sinaloa, a fresh combination of trout and scallops with a sweet and spicy touch, and duck carnitas with mole negro, from Oaxaca. Also notable are cochinita pibil, a classic from the Yucatan Peninsula; octopus tostada with smoked chipotle cream; and lamb taco, inspired by Middle Eastern influences in northern Mexico.
Each dish celebrates Mexico’s culinary roots with a personal touch from the chef, who adds a contemporary twist. Boluarte, trained in prestigious restaurants such as Mission Ceviche and Oxomoco, has designed a menu that seeks to challenge culinary norms.
Meanwhile, beverage director Marek Trocha has created original cocktails like the Mole Old Fashioned and the Fermented Corn Margarita, served in fun, original glassware. This is the perfect space for social media lovers, as it is completely Instagrammable.
The restaurant’s design reflects Grupo Artesano’s signature artisanal style. Walls are adorned with intricate depictions of the Mayan calendar and dialect, both inside and out, immersing diners in a culturally rich atmosphere that goes beyond gastronomy.
TABÚ is an immersive experience that combines flavors, art and design. It is located at 10 Hope Street, Brooklyn. Reservations at: https://www.tabubk.com/
