The 2024 Major League Baseball regular season is almost over. There is currently just over a week of competition left and teams are still fighting for a playoff spot, although several of them already have their spots secured.
The only franchise that has its divisional championship title secured at the moment is the Milwaukee Brewers, who managed to get a lead of almost 10 games over the Chicago Cubs in the National League Central.
Other teams that have secured their presence in October’s baseball are the New York Yankees. Although they are still fighting for the division title with the Baltimore Orioles, they have already secured their place in the playoffs at least from the American League Wild Card.
The Cleveland Guardians are in the same boat in the American League. Although they have not yet secured the Central Division pennant, they have already secured their postseason spot with a record of 89-65.
Moving on to the National League, in addition to the aforementioned Brewers, the Dodgers are another team that has a guaranteed spot in the World Series.
In the American League Wild Card race, the Orioles have the biggest advantage of securing the first Wild Card spot. The Kansas City Royals have a two-game lead for second place, and just below them are the Minnesota Twins and the Detroit Tigers fighting for that last spot.
In the National League, the race is a little tighter with the San Diego Padres in first place. But the Arizona Diamondbacks and the New York Mets are just two games behind, while the Atlanta Braves are still in the race two games behind.
The 2024 Major League Baseball regular season will end on September 29. The Wild Card Playoffs will begin on October 1, followed by the Division Series on October 5, the Championship Series on October 13, and finally the World Series, which will begin on October 25.
