The New York Police Department (NYPD) has released photos of an individual who angrily stabbed a passenger on the Manhattan subway with a knife after the two collided at the East Village subway station.
The 29-year-old victim had just exited a Brooklyn-bound L train at 1st Ave. and East 14th St. around 8:43 p.m. Friday when he inadvertently “bumped” into a man and stabbed the passenger in the back, officers said.
A security guard on the platform also saw the victim looking confused and in pain, while another person was escaping down the stairs to the street.
The NYPD described the suspect as a possible “Asian male with a bag,” the Daily News reported.
“Someone came up behind him and stabbed him in the back,” said the security guard, who gave his name as Samba. “He never saw it coming.”
“He screamed, ‘Someone punched me. ’ But then we looked and saw all the blood.”
Paramedics took the man to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
The attacker fled on foot in an unknown direction, New York police said.
Anyone with information related to this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
