FC Barcelona is waiting to see who will be its next goalkeeper due to the loss, presumably for the entire season, of Marc-André Ter Stegen who tore his patellar tendon, so it will have to explore the market and one of its options would be the Costa Rican Keylor Navas.

According to information released by the Spanish portal Mundo Deportivo, Navas could take on the role of taking over the FC Barcelona goal regardless of his past at Real Madrid, where he emerged as one of the club’s idols and with whom he won three UEFA Champions Leagues.

The goalkeeper, who is currently free, is considered the main player to defend the Blaugrana goal, mainly because he has been without a team since June 30, when his contract with PSG expired.

Since he is a free agent, he would not represent a problem for the team’s salary bill and would only have to negotiate his salary to make the deal happen.

Another point that brings Navas closer to Barcelona would be his agent Jorge Mendes. The Portuguese, former representative of Cristiano Ronaldo, has impeccable negotiations with the club’s board and this would be fundamental to closing a hypothetical agreement so far.

Knowing his future was up in the air, Navas has been training on his own for the past two months while Mendes tried to sort out his future. Now, an opportunity like this at 37 would be the chance to return to the elite of world football after three seasons living in the shadow of Gianluigi Donnarumma in Paris.

It is expected that in the coming days the person responsible for replacing Ter Stegen will be announced, which would be, in addition to Navas, in the hands of the youth player Iñaki Peña, any other goalkeeper from La Masía or even the Chilean Claudio Bravo, who would be willing to return to the club where he played between 2014 and 2016 and abandon the retirement from football that he announced at the end of the 2023-2024 season.
