Erick Caiza Iza, a 19-year-old teenager, was arrested on suspicion of stabbing six people – including two teenagers – in Brooklyn (NYC) over the weekend.

According to the New York police, it is not clear what provoked the attacks or the possible links between the suspect and the injured.

The crime happened around 6:20 a.m. Sunday in front of a residence located at 45 Fane Court in Gerritsen Beach. All six injured were hospitalized in stable condition. The unidentified victims were:

  • A 30-year-old woman cut on the face.
  • A 29-year-old woman was cut on her face and arm.
  • A 27-year-old man cut on the face.
  • An 18-year-old teenager cut his hand.
  • A 16-year-old girl was cut on the arm.
  • A man in his 30s with a cut on his neck and wrist.

Six people were slashed in an attack in Brooklyn, prompting a search for the suspect.

Caiza was charged with assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon, reported ABC News. All charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Last weekend had already started violently, with two homicides in Queens and the Bronx, and six people wounded by gunfire around the city between Friday night and early Saturday morning.

The start of the previous weekend was also dramatic with three homicides: two victims attacked from behind in the street and another shot in the head entering her home.

And last week the violence did not stop either: an immigrant grandfather was killed by a stray bullet in Queens while he was behind the wheel, causing him to run over a woman. A fifteen-year-old was arrested as a suspect in that fatal shooting. In addition, in the last few days at least five Hispanics have been shot dead in New York in less than a week.
