This Tuesday, the New York Mets began their penultimate series of the regular season against the Atlanta Braves. The team from Queens lost 5-1 to the Georgia team and their qualification for the Major League playoffs is starting to get complicated.

However, it’s not all bad news for the team led by Venezuelan Carlos Mendoza. In the last game at Truist Park in Atlanta, Francisco Lindor could be seen in uniform, taking some swings and ready to come in if the game warranted it.

Lindor, who is a key piece in the Mets’ offense, suffered back pain on September 13. As a result, he has missed the last 10 games of his team in this final part of the season and very close to qualifying for the playoffs.

The Mets seem to have good news about the Puerto Rican. He will possibly return to the team’s lineup for the second game of the series against the Braves this Wednesday. A key game for the New York franchise’s aspirations to make the postseason.

Manager Mendoza himself said after the loss to the Braves that Lindor is “in the game and ready to return to action.” So it is very likely that the shortstop will be in the starting lineup on Wednesday night.

Lindor himself said that his back condition is better and that the MRIs did not show anything serious. “The MRI showed no structural damage. It’s just pain,” Lindor said. “So we decided to check the bones, and there’s no damage to them. So for me, it’s just pain. I have to find a way to let it go.”

The Mets currently have just five games left to finish the regular season and seal their playoff berth. The team from Queens owns the last Wild Card spot in the National League at the moment, but the Braves are just one game away from tying them. So this series in Atlanta is crucial for both franchises.
