A Secret Service agent who is part of Kamala Harris’ security detail is accused of making sexual advances toward one of the vice president’s staffers and has been placed on administrative leave while officials investigate the incident.
The Secret Service’s Office of Professional Responsibility is taking over the investigation into allegations that one of its agents allegedly groped a woman who works for Kamala Harris in Wisconsin, the agency said in a statement.
He was drunk when he groped her
NBC News reported that the agent, whose identity was not revealed, was part of an advance team in Green Bay, Wisconsin. According to the documents, the person was under the influence of alcohol when the alleged incident occurred. “The Secret Service holds its personnel to the highest standards.”
Witnesses who spoke to The Associated Press said the officer got too drunk at dinner and began touching the woman in front of everyone when they returned to the hotel.
The assault against the victim was reported to the state Secret Service office. The agent’s gun and badge were immediately confiscated and he was placed on administrative leave while a sexual harassment investigation is conducted.
