The Major League regular season is about to end and the playoffs will begin next Tuesday, October 1, with the first Wild Card round matches.
Several franchises such as the New York Yankees, Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies already have their division title secured. Others like the Baltimore Orioles or San Diego Padres entered the playoffs via the Wild Card route, while the New York Mets, Atlanta Braves or Detroit Tigers continue to fight for a place until the last game.
The teams that say they are present in baseball in October will have an extra reward, not only on a sporting level, but on a monetary level. Well, as they advance through the round, the franchises will have more income.
For example, the six franchises that qualify for the playoffs via the Wild Card will play a three-game round for a place in the Division Series. The teams that play at home in this phase will take 50% of what is generated from ticket sales.
While those who go directly into the Divisional Series, and those who get there from the previous round, will already be awarded 60% of the tickets sold in their three or four home games.
Regarding the Championship Series, the MLB will also give 60% of the proceeds from ticket sales to local franchises. And this percentage is repeated for the World Series.
With this percentage of distribution in the sale of tickets for the franchises. The team that reaches the World Series, after playing at least 11 games at home, will be able to receive an extra $107 million dollars.
This income, along with other bonuses from the franchises, could mean about $250,000 for each of the players on the roster to win the championship ring.
