Another new discovery of possible human bones was reported near the children’s carousel in Brooklyn Bridge Park, the NYPD reported.

A passerby saw the bone pieces on the shore near the DUMBO green space and alerted the NYPD around 12:43 pm Thursday. The remains were delivered to the Office of the Medical Examiner (OCME) for analysis.

It was at least the 3rd similar discovery in two months in that area. In August, skeletal remains, including a human skull, were found along the same stretch of coast near the carousel on two occasions, on August 19 and 21, he recalled. DailyNews.

Those remains were also delivered to OCME forensic anthropologists to determine the age, race and gender of the bones. No results have been reported so far, so it is unclear if this is one or more victims.

In general, the discovery of complete bodies or parts in public places in New York and nearby areas is common, and it sometimes takes time to identify the victims.

In early August, a dismembered body was found burning in a shopping cart under a bridge in Yonkers and was later linked to other remains found in an apartment in the Bronx (NYC).

In July, a 46-year-old Hispanic woman was found dead inside Highland Park near Highland Blvd. and Vermont Place, in Brooklyn. Also that month, two bodies were discovered in wooded areas outside New York City: one in a park in Yonkers and another on Long Island. In addition, a woman was found dead with her head shot inside an abandoned sleeping bag in Midtown East, Manhattan (NYC) and her roommate was later arrested as a suspect.

In May, a human head was found floating in Jamaica Bay (Queens). Earlier that month, a man was found dead floating in waters near the Staten Island ferry terminal in Lower Manhattan.

Days later, human remains found submerged in a stream in New Jersey were identified as belonging to Charles Murphy, a man missing since 1982, prosecutors said. In April, a case that had been open for almost 39 years was also closed in New Jersey: the newborn girl found dead in a bag in a park on Christmas Eve 1984.

Between February 29 and early March of this year, two human bodies were found dissected in wooded areas of Long Island (NY). They were later identified as Malcolm Craig Brown (53) and his partner Donna Conneely (59), and a cousin of his was arrested along with three other people.

In January 2021, human remains were found in a park on Staten Island along with a calendar from the year 2005. Months later, it was determined that the bones were from a short man (between 4’11” and 5’5″). possibly Asian or Hispanic, and that he had been murdered on an unspecified date. But so far the victim has not been identified and there have been no arrests.

In the fall of 2020, two newborn twins were left dead in a high-traffic residential area in The Bronx (NYC) and more than three years later, no one has been arrested in the case.
