As part of the upcoming release of the book “It starts with one: the legend and legacy on Linkin Park”, which tells part of the life of the band’s former vocalist Chester Bennington and the band itself, People revealed, thanks to his access to said manuscript before its publication, that the American singer “fought” until his last days against his need to drink again.
According to what was revealed in Jason Lipshutz’s manuscript, which includes statements from Chester’s family and friends, the artist entered a phase of emotional fragility, weeks before his death on July 20, 2017, which “brought him closer.” to his addiction to alcoholism.
As mentioned by one of Bennington’s closest friends, Ryan Shuck, the latter confessed to him, through text messages, that he had been “assailed” by thoughts that prompted him to drink alcohol.
Chester never stopped fighting
Within the same writing, Shuck also mentioned that Bennington fought, hour by hour, with his addictions.
The above was also confirmed by Chester’s wife, Talinda, who, within the book, mentioned that the singer remained sober until 6 months before his death. However, despite the imminent “fight” that the artist was facing, experts identified that there was a minimal amount of alcohol in Bennington’s system at the time of his death.
Given this, Talinda revealed that the guilt of having relapsed into an addiction could have caused Chester’s suicide in 2017.
“I knew instantly that that drink triggered that shame, it triggered a lifetime of unhealthy neural pathways.”
“It starts with one: the legend and legacy on Linkin Park” will be released on October 1, so it is expected that new details will be revealed regarding Chester’s last days and his fight against addictions.
In the midst of the upcoming release of Jason Lipshutz’s book and the return of the Californian band to the music scene, the singer’s son, Jamie Bennington, attacked the group for having “forgotten” his father when introducing the new vocalist Emily Armstrong.
As mentioned by Bennington in recent weeks, the band now led by Mike Shinoda never consulted him regarding the entry of Emily, whom he accused of having ties to actor Danny Masteron, sentenced to prison for sexual abuse, as well as with the well-known Church of Scientology.
Until now, and after Jamie’s statements, Shinoda has decided to remain silent regarding this situation.
