The Chavista regime and the largest opposition bloc in Venezuela return to the streets this Saturday, September 28, with calls for large demonstrations that aim to continue defending or questioning the controversial proclamation of Nicolás Maduro as winner of the July 28 elections.
As has become customary, the opposition first called on its followers to a “global protest” that, they hope, will take place in several cities and towns in Venezuela and in 53 other countries, according to the opposition leader, María Corina Machado.
In the case of the demonstrations in Venezuela, Machado pointed out that the protests will be carried out under the “swarm” mode, so that Venezuelans within the country can “appear and disappear” quickly and avoid being captured by the forces of the regime. after the 2,400 prisoners arrested in the midst of the post-election crisis, some of them detained in marches.
This will be the first protest held by the majority opposition since its standard-bearer, Edmundo González Urrutía, was forced to leave the country for Spain, where he requested asylum and where he has received, in recent weeks, the recognition of the European Parliament and others. international organizations as elected president of Venezuela.
In this sense, it is unknown if Machado, who has remained sheltered and whose whereabouts are unknown, while the ruling party calls her a “terrorist”, will participate in some of the rallies, which will take place a month after her last public appearance. when he led a demonstration in Caracas against the fraud that, he claims, Chavismo is trying to consummate.
On the other hand, the regime, which considers that “it does have reasons to celebrate,” urged its followers to demonstrate that they are the “majority” in Venezuela, indicated the first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello. to be the Minister of the Interior and Justice.
“We are going to hold marches in all the states of Venezuela and Chavismo is mobilizing to celebrate the victory of July 28,” said the number two of the PSUV on Friday, who insists that the opposition “does not have the people to support them.” Therefore, he predicted failure for the opposition in his call on Saturday.
Cabello highlighted that the ruling party will take to the streets to reject “the attempts to destabilize” the opposition, which the regime accuses of having coup and terrorist plans (without evidence to prove it), and to defend ratifying the alleged “triumph of Maduro to appoint the Supreme Court of Justice in August, which is made up of judges chosen by Chavismo itself.
