You often see mistakes in world football that make any fan shake their head, but what was done this Sunday by Polish striker Sebastian Szymanski is possibly unrivaled at least so far in the 2024 season.

The failure in question occurred this Sunday during the match in which Fenerbahce visited and beat Atalyaspor 2-0 on the seventh day of the Turkish League, fortunately for Szymanski.

And it all happened just 2 minutes into the game. A run on the right by Mert Müldür ended in a dangerous cross towards Szymanski, who tried to kill but first ran into the rival goalkeeper.

Despite the defense, the ball bounced off the right vertical of the goal and ended up at the feet of the European striker, who only had to give it a small hit to shake the nets.

However, inexplicably Szymanski finished without any strength and the ball traveled across the goal line until Veysel Sari was able to clear the ball.

Neither Szymanski nor his teammates could believe the wasted opportunity, which fortunately was not key in the match because those led by Mourinho triumphed thanks to the goals of Dusan Tadic and Thalisson Kelven against them.

Curiously, the clash also had funny moments from the hand of José Mourinho, who claimed an alleged offside that was incorrectly sanctioned by Edin Dzeko by putting the replay of the play in front of one of the broadcast cameras.
