The Indiana Fever point guard in the WNBA, Caitlin Clark, will be recognized with the rookie of the year award, surpassing the also favorite and owner of the record for rebounds in the same season in the league, Ángel Reese.

The information was announced on his social networks by journalist Shams Charania, stating that the decision is a fact and that the 22-year-old will not disappoint as she was the first pick in the WNBA draft last May.

The triplet was so important in the Indiana Fever game that it made the team advance to the playoffs for the first time since 2016, where they lost to the Connecticut Sun.

Much of it is due to the numbers Clark left on the court, averaging 19.2 points per game, as well as 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds in 40 games played.

Additionally, Clark had to face a lot hate by those who considered her to have “excess publicity” due to what she had achieved in NCAA college basketball, where she left as the leading scorer in the history of the league, whether female or male, with 3,951 points scored with Iowa, and also the record for scoring in a single season with 191 points.

Already in the WNBA she managed to become the first rookie to achieve a triple-double and also the first to achieve 100 triples in the same season.

Likewise, other records such as the record for assists and scores for a rookie, along with the record for most turnovers (163) were part of the first season in the best women’s basketball in the world.

The WNBA also rewarded her as part of the 2024 All-Star team and stole a few votes for the MVP that A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces ultimately received.

The award will be officially announced in the coming days.
