The singer confessed that he had been drinking during a dinner and that he had driven the electric scooter until he parked it near his house.
The financial penalty was imposed on September 27 by a Seoul Western District Court judge in a summary judgment, which is a legal decision made by a judge without a full trial, the Korea Herald reported.
The 31-year-old rapper has the right to request a formal trial seven days after the sentence if he wishes to challenge, the local media indicated.
After the accusation, Big Hit Music, BTS’s record label, and Suga issued official statements and apologies to fans for the incident.
Later, the interpreter issued a second apology on the Weverse social network, where he wrote that he had “made a serious mistake,” after being called, on August 23, for interrogation at the Yongsan police station (Seoul).
“Because of my carelessness, everyone who cares about me is having a hard time. “I will live my life reflecting and striving to never commit such misdeeds again,” he added.
The singer, whose real name is Min Yoon-gi, is completing his mandatory military service as a social worker, and his official discharge, after two years of service, is scheduled for June 2025.
The ARMYs, as BTS followers call themselves, have reacted in various ways. While some expressed concern for Suga’s health and well-being, many others have criticized his behavior.
