FC Barcelona will face Young Boys this Tuesday in the Champions League, seeking its first victory in the competition. In that sense, the Barcelona coach, Hansi Flick confirmed that Frenkie de Jong will receive the medical discharge and will be part of the squad list for that match.
Although he clarified that the Dutchman will not be in the starting eleven, since he has been out for more than five months due to a left ankle injury, Flick assured that the Dutchman’s return “is very good news.”
“Having Frenkie back on the team is something very important. We have had many injured players and after October we will recover three players. We are happy when the players return. Frenkie will do well to return to the team to help the younger players. If he has the opportunity he might play. I don’t know if he will play 45, 20 or 10 minutes,” Flick explained in statements reported by EFE.
However, Flick indicated that “with Frenkie we must see how the game will go”, in reference to the absence of Eric Garcia, who will be out due to suspension after his expulsion in Monaco.
“With Eric’s suspension we have lost a midfielder. In the center of the field it is important not to make mistakes. We have to impose our style of play,” said Flick, pointing out that if they make mistakes like those that occurred against Osasuna, it will be more difficult to defend and he asked for special attention to the circulation of the ball to avoid complications.
