The same joy that radiates over his play on the field was transferred to the San Diego Padres’ celebrations for qualifying for the MLB Division Series. Fernando Tatis Jr. went viral for moving his hips in a dance inside the locker room.

Padres defeated the Atlanta Braves 5-4 at the end of the day on Wednesday. This victory in the Wild Card Series earned him a qualification to the next round. The celebrations took place under the usual tradition.

Padres players and coaches opened champagne and some beers to commemorate the victory. It was at that moment where Tatis Jr. went viral on social media doing a peculiar dance while he had half his shirt practically outside.

San Diego Padres Celebration

Before the Dominican stole the show, the celebration began with a speech by David Peralta. The Venezuelan assured that this was only the beginning of the biggest dream: the World Series.

“We have to stay together (…) this is a first step, we have three more boys who stay together. We are a great team, I believe in all of you. “We’re going to go all the way, baby!” he said.

Tatis was instrumental in San Diego’s last qualifying victory. The Dominican went 3-for-3. Now, the Padres have the opportunity to fight to reach the final of the World Series. A fact that would mean his first title and a kind of tribute to his late owner Peter Seidler.

Next stop? Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers, the best team in the National League in the regular season. That Old Circuit division series starts Saturday night. San Diego eliminated the Dodgers in these same instances in 2022, a year in which the Los Angeles team had won 111 games.
