Frenchman Paul Pogba, a Juventus player, will be able to return to the playing field sooner than expected, at the beginning of 2025, after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has reduced his doping sanction from four years to 18 months. as reported by several media this Friday and the player himself hinted with a publication on social networks.
Paul Pogba’s return in 2025, although unofficial, seems a fact after ‘Mail Sport’ reported the reduction of the sentence and several internationally and Italian media outlets supported the news.
Pogba’s Instagram post shortly after the news broke also suggests that the reduction is close to being official.
The midfielder uploaded a photo of his legs and a title with an hourglass, exemplifying a countdown to play again.
The French international was suspended in September 2023 after he tested positive for testosterone in a match against Udinese, the first of Serie A 2023-24 in the month of August.
Pogba appealed the decision, but the Italian Anti-Doping Court upheld the sanction, confirmed by the Italian Anti-Doping Prosecutor’s Office in February 2024.
The midfielder had to take the case to Switzerland, to the CAS, and, after months of silence in which there was even speculation about his retirement, his return to Juventus is almost confirmed.
With a contract until 2026, he will be under the orders of Thiago Motta in March, when the 18 months of sanction reduction are completed, in the event that the CAS makes the aforementioned reduction official.
