The president of the Águilas del Club América, Santiago Baños, decided to speak about the recent rumors that leave open the possible hiring of forward Raúl Jiménez with the team for the coming seasons despite currently being part of the English Premier League and being one of the many Mexicans who are active abroad.
These statements were made by the manager during an interview offered for TUDN, where he was questioned about the possible signing of this Fullham figure who was trained in the azulcrema team’s youth team and has always shown his affection for this historic Liga MX institution with the who could shine in the last years of his career.
“I have a great relationship, he has open doors, he has mentioned that if he returns it would be with America, today I find it complicated because he is having a good time, he caught his second or third wind, I am happy, I hope he stays for many more years there and if one day there is the opportunity for him to return, then the doors are open,” said the leader.
During the interview he also spoke about the possible losses that the team could have after finishing the Apertura 2024 tournament of the Liga MX; although he maintained that he does not intend to give away any players and each one will be exchanged or sold with their full market value as it is one of the largest sports institutions in the Aztec nation.
“The players have their doors open, many have their dreams of going to Europe and so on, but we are not going to give them away, if offers come in that suit the club and player, we analyze them and if they suit, they come out,” he said.
“Everyone has the door open and the idea is to let as few players as possible go, it is not to dismantle the squad either, the idea is to always strengthen it and try to sell as little as possible, only in case it is convenient or if the player has that hope, in that case we do sit down to negotiate,” concluded Santiago Baños.
