The Argentina team arrives with five heavy losses for the match against Venezuela in the South American Qualifiers towards the 2026 World Cup. Next Tuesday, the albiceleste will not be able to count on four of its players due to injury and one due to suspension.
Venezuela will receive those led by Lionel Scaloni this Thursday, October 10 at the Monumental Stadium in Maturín. The absences due to injury correspond to Alejandro Garnacho (Manchester United), Nicolás González (Juventus), Marcos Acuña (River Plate) and Paulo Dybala (Roma).
None of these four players will be able to be there for the FIFA double date. After the match against Venezuela, Argentina will be home against Bolivia on Tuesday. Emiliano ‘Dibu’ Martínez will also not be due to suspension.
The goalkeeper was suspended by the International Association of Football Federation for attacking a cameraman on the last day of the South American Qualifiers, when the albiceleste lost to Colombia in Barranquilla.
What do the injured have?
In the case of Alejandro Garnacho, the medical report is not clear. The same player reported that he has had problems with his left knee for two weeks. For his part, Marcos Acuña came out with discomfort in the match between River Plate and Platense.
Likewise, Nicolás González will be out for several weeks due to an injury to the rectus femoris in his right thigh that he suffered in the UEFA Champions League match a week ago against Leipzig. Finally, Paulo Dybala had muscle problems during a Roma training session.
In place of the injured, the technical director of the albiceleste, Lionel Scaloni, decided to summon two young people. Facundo Buonanotte from Leicester of the English Premier League and Julio Soler from Club Atlético Lanús of the Argentine First Division.
