A few days ago it began to be reported that Julio Iglesias was going to officially retire from music, but now the Spanish singer has shared a statement in which he denies that information and assures that when he decides to retire he will tell his fans.
He shared the statement on his Instagram account, and in it he mentioned the many times that there has been speculation about his health and other decisions in his artistic career.
“Today I woke up with the false news that I am retiring,” he wrote at the beginning of the statement, “in recent years they have killed me several times, they have said that I have Alzheimer’s, they have said everything and today they have gone even further” .
The false news about Julio Iglesias’ retirement was spread by Argentine journalist Gonzalo Vázquez, who assured that a source told him that the singer and his team had refused to schedule a concert. According to Vázquez, the refusal was because Iglesias has decided not to go on stage again.
But Vázquez’s story has been completely denied by the singer, who wrote: “A journalist, I don’t know where, says that a friend has told him that I can’t sing anymore.” Although he did not clarify if he had really refused to make any type of presentation. He even stated: “It is incredible the evil that a bad journalist can do.”
He made it clear to his fans that “the day I am going to retire, I will personally announce it with sadness, but with dignity.”
He also took advantage of the statement to remember that he is working on an autobiographical series produced by Netflix. He assures that in this new series many people will be able to change “the perception of my life.”
