The rescue team of the city of Dallas, Texas, reported that they managed to recover the body of a child and his father from a river, who were swept away by the current of the water of a stream near Mountain Creek Parkway when they were fishing.
The Dallas Fire and Rescue Department was alerted to a family who was fishing in the river when the child apparently slipped and fell into the water. The father, while trying to rescue him, was also swept away by the current.
The other members of the family could not do anything for them. The father was identified as Fernando Carlos, 26 years old, while the child, whose name was not shared by authorities, was only 6 years old.
Neither father nor child surfaced
“Reports indicate that a child was swept away while fishing in an area stream,” Dallas Fire and Rescue Department spokesman Jason Evans told CBS News. “The boy’s father jumped to rescue him and was also dragged away, and neither of them came to the surface.”
The rescue team arrived near 2779 Mountain Creek Parkway to begin the search, but after a few hours the mission became a recovery.
The father’s body was found around 5:00 p.m. Saturday in the creek. Around 7:00 p.m. they suspended the search for the child because the darkness did not allow them to continue. “The DPD dive team will resume efforts Sunday morning.”
The next day they recovered the child
On Sunday afternoon, rescuers from the Dallas Fire Department managed to find the body of the little boy who was recovered on a coast in Grand Prairie.
“We offer our deepest condolences to the families of the victims during this sad time,” the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department wrote in a statement.
FOX 4 News said family members shared that the boy’s name was Noah and described him as a boy who loved music, dancing and playing Fortnite.
A relative of Fernando and Noah started a fundraising page on GoFundMe to ask for everyone’s support to raise enough to carry out the funeral services.
In the description they say that the father was the sole supporter of his mother and her 5 and 9 year old daughters. The donations reached more than $13,000, which they will use for expenses that were not foreseen due to the accident.
