Coin collectors know that each piece has a story behind it, and a 1975 dime is about to become the new sensation due to the high price it could sell for.
It is one of the few coins issued by the San Francisco Mint that has a minting error: it lacks the “S”, which indicates its place of origin.
At the time, six of these coin sets were sold for just $7 each.
However, two of these coins have become extremely rare, and one of them is believed to belong to two sisters who inherited the piece from their brother, according to AP News.
Although the sisters prefer to remain anonymous, their coin is projected to fetch a staggering $500,000 at an auction scheduled for late October.
The rarity of this coin is due not only to the lack of the “S”, but also to other characteristics that make it valuable:
–Since its issuance, it was considered collectible.
–It was never circulated, which implies that it has been kept in excellent condition.
–The absence of the “S” is found in only two of these coins.
–Another similar coin sold for $497,000 in 2019.
With the increase in the value of coins, collectors are willing to pay large amounts for unique pieces.
Expectation is growing to see at what price the auction of this coin will close in October.
