SNAP coupons, which are an important help for many families, began shipping to recipients in some US states on October 4.
This program, which is managed by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Food and Nutrition Service, provides assistance in purchasing food to those who qualify under certain requirements.
States that will receive payments starting October 4
According to information from the USDA, the states that will begin issuing SNAP benefits on October 4 are: Alabama, Arkansas, Maryland, Minnesota and Mississippi.
Each of these states has its own payment schedule, and it is important for recipients to verify their eligibility.
In Alabama, payments will be sent from October 4 to October 23.
To find out the exact payment date, residents of those states should check the last two digits of their SNAP case number.
For example, if your number ends in 00-04, you should have received your money on October 4th.
Arkansas also started sending coupons on October 4, but will only ship until October 13.
In this case, beneficiaries should check their Social Security number (SSN). If it ends in 0 or 1, you received your assistance on October 4.
In Maryland, payments will be delivered between October 4 and 23, using the first three letters of the last name to determine the delivery date.
Minnesota residents should check their case numbers, as those ending in 4 should have received their payment on October 4, and those ending in 1 on October 11.
Finally, Mississippi also started payments on October 4, but distributions will only continue until October 21.
Maximum amounts and how to check their status
The maximum amounts that beneficiaries can receive vary depending on the size of the household.
An individual can receive up to $292, while a family of four could get up to $975.
If there are eight members in the household, the amount could reach $1,756.
To verify their SNAP case number and find out the payment date, beneficiaries must:
1. Find the last digit of your case number.
2. Check your state’s SNAP payment schedule, which lists dates based on the last digit.
3. If you are new to the program, you will receive notifications about your payment dates once your eligibility is approved.
Recipients should regularly check the status of their application, especially as the distribution date approaches.
If there are any issues, such as missing paperwork or changes in their household situation, they should contact their local SNAP office.
