“his-signing-was-a-total-fiasco,-it's-a-package”:-italian-press-explodes-against-chucky-lozano

Three seasons ago, Hirving “Chucky” Lozano made the jump to Napoli for a record amount of 20 million euros (about $40 million dollars). However, the Mexican winger has not finished meeting expectations.

The journalist Liberato Ferrara of 87TV, a digital television channel that covers the Napoli strongly criticized Lozano, who was expelled in the middle of the week in the elimination of the Italian Cup against Fiorentina, after having played alone 20 minutes.

“Lozano was the guy who was supposed to be the strong point of Carlo Ancelotti’s management, which cost 40 million euros, and it is a total fiasco. The Mexican was bought to satisfy the former coach because they did not bring James Rodríguez, and it turned out to be a package. They thought they had signed a player with a champion caste and they brought one from the bunch, without a single memorable goal at the time”, reads the column of 87TV.

Along the same lines, he continues: “His only virtue is running behind the ball. They presented him with great fanfare as a true star, and for more than two years he is nothing more than an ordinary footballer, he disappointed expectations. He is apathetic, he does not understand the spirit of Napoli or the demands. Gattuso sat him down and got tired of scolding him, and it seems that nothing changed, he never seemed to feel the club’s jersey”.

The Chucky has sung 25 goals in 104 games with Napoli. However, when Ancelotti left the bench, he lost ownership and it cost him to get minutes with Gattuso. The Mexican has regained some prominence since Luciano Spalletti took office, although he has played most of the games as a substitute.

Beyond all the criticism he has received, Lozano was the great figure of his team this Monday, scoring the two goals of the win (0-2) against Bologna. In this way, the Partenopeo team climbed to third place in the standings with 46 points, two units behind Milan and four from the leader Inter.
