The Police have arrested a man for public disorder and injury as the alleged perpetrator of the throwing of the PVC bar that hit the head of Sevilla player Joan Jordán last Saturday, forcing the Cup derby to be suspended del Rey against Betis until its resumption on Sunday.

Police sources reported this Monday that the detainee, JCLE, born in 1992, was arrested for said aggression, which triggered the suspension of Betis-Sevilla at the minute 39 and its resumption 17 hours later behind closed doors on Sunday, at the Benito Villamarín stadium.

The alleged assailant, aged 29 and who was in the Gol Sur stands of the Betic stadium, was arrested by agents of the Provincial Information Brigade for alleged crimes of public disorder and injury, and has also been proposed for a sanction for infraction of the Sports Law.

The detainee has been released with charges and, according to the sources, he has a police record for mistreatment, injuries and robbery with force.

The Betis-Sevilla match in the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey had to be suspended last Saturday after Sevilla player Jordán received the impact on the head of a half-meter-long plastic rod thrown from the south goal of Benito Villamarín.

The National Police, a member of the security activated for that match, then began an investigation, while the derby resumed from 16.00 Sunday hours, already behind closed doors, and in it Betis qualified for the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey by beating their eternal rival 2-1.
