seven-of-the-routes-that-jetblue-will-suspend-starting-this-month-will-impact-newark-airport-in-nj

At least seven of the JetBlue Airways flight routes that will be interrupted starting this month take off from Newark International Airport in New Jersey.

This week, the airline based in New York confirmed the temporary suspension of nearly 27 voyages largely due to the high cost of gasoline and due to “specific operational challenges”.

The routes will not be carried out between this month and October. However, the company is expected to resume service for the winter.

Only the trip from Austin, Texas, to Cancun, Mexico; and Nashville, Tennessee, to Cancun, were eliminated.

JetBlue had re-entered the Newark airport in July of 2020 with the launch of transcontinental service to Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO) airports. The foregoing represented a direct challenge to the competing airline United Airlines.

Later, in 2020, the airline announced an expansion at the airfield in NJ with service to 27 additional cities. According to the Live and Let’s Fly report, the expansion continued with the opening of more routes.

Although a benefit for United, the interruption of these flights could increase the rates for travelers.

Other highlights of these changes made by JetBlue is that 33% of routes involve the state of Florida, 33% are over of 2,000 miles, and 74% of these flights began after the pandemic.

Below are the JetBlue routes that will experience changes or be eliminated:
