This Saturday Real Madrid conquered its league 35 by beating Espanyol de Barcelona 4-0 and during the celebrations the entire Real Madrid squad; all except one: Gareth Bale. The Welshman accused his absence of “spasms” in his back and now sources close to Real Madrid confirmed the winger’s injury.
Bale had already been dropped from the squad for the match against Espanyol but it was the player who “got off the ship” and did not appear at the Santiago Bernabéu to see the match and for the subsequent celebration, something that some Internet users on social networks classified as a lie.
“I am very disappointed not to be able to participate in tonight’s celebrations due to a spasm in my back”, wrote Bale who congratulated the team for closing the title in the first option they had and with four days to be played.
Now, according to EFE sources, Bale went to the Ciudad Deportiva de Valdebebas this Sunday for check-ups due to pain and Real Madrid’s own doctors confirmed the physical discomfort suffered by the footballer.
Although for the moment, Real Madrid has not published any official statement announcing the injury or the time off.
Either way, Bale would miss the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final scheduled for this Wednesday, May 4, against Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Contrary to Bale, other players with little regularity or who have had many physical problems this season, such as Isco Alarcón or Eden Hazard, were present at the festivities not only at the Real stadium Madrid but later in the Plaza de Cibeles, where the white fans usually celebrate their achievements.
It seems unlikely that Gareth Bale will play an official match with Real Madrid again , the last in the league being a match against Villarreal that ended in a goalless draw and where the Welshman hit the crossbar twice.
Next June 30 Bale’s contract will expire and with it an impressive track record will come to an end of Bale at Real Madrid that includes 18 titles, including four Champions Leagues, three Spanish Leagues, and a Copa del Rey that “ he won” by himself in 2014 after scoring a great goal in the final against FC Barcelona.
