live-your-life!-getup!-get-moving!

Next Saturday, June 4, in collaboration with the National Alliance for Hispanic Health (National Alliance for Hispanic Health) and along with various allied organizations and member agencies , our Hispanic Federation will carry out –as it has been doing for 16 years– a healthy and entertaining popular activity called “Live! your life! GetUp! GetMoving!” This time, the traditional health, education and fun fair for the whole family will take place in Washington Heights, in Upper Manhattan. And, once again, it will be free.

“Live your life! GetUp! Get Moving! offers our people the opportunity to get health tests and exams at no cost, as well as provide information and educate the community”, explains Bethsy Morales-Reid, Associate Vice President of Programs of the federation. “But in addition, we want to engage the entire community in a conversation about the lifestyles we choose, and encourage positive changes.”

Live your life! GetUp! Get Moving! It is an initiative that fills us with pride and gratitude towards our allies and sponsors and our member organizations, who have made it possible for 16 years. Because since we started holding these health fairs, more than 200,0000 people, of which more than 100,000 tests and medical examinations have been done.

“Tests and exams are an important part of ¡Vive tu vida! GetUp! Get Moving! For example, vision, HIV, sexually transmitted infections, blood pressure, cancer, sugar levels, or COVID 16, in addition to vaccination against the coronavirus ”, Morales-Reid expands. “But on Saturday there will be much more than that, like Zumba and soccer classes, and dancing. We will also distribute enough food for families for a week. And fun for adults and children, from music to crafts, prizes and gifts”.

The edition of ¡Vive tu vida! GetUp! Get Moving! this year has additional support from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the New York City Department of Youth Affairs and Community Development.

All June 4 activities will take place between the 11: 00 am and 2: 30 pm on Saint Nicholas Avenue between streets 185 and 186, in Washington Heights.

And Bethsy Morales-Reid ends by saying, “Remember that it is a totally free activity. We look forward to seeing you.”
