The iPhone 14, which will probably go on sale in the fall, will have the always-on display feature –a screen always on– which Android devices have had for years.

According to Mashable, Apple’s 16 iOS, which will likely come preloaded on the next iPhone, will come with an improved lock screen, which will have wallpapers with widget-like capabilities.

With the new feature, a portion of the iPhone screen will light up showing some basic data even when phone is idle.

However, new features on iOS 16 will support an always-on lock screen in the future.

This feature is expected to be exclusive to iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The screen always on –or always-on display– is already is familiar to users of Android phones, including those from Samsung, Xiaomi, and Oppo, many of which have offered the feature for years.

Apple’s own Apple Watch also has an always-on display mode (which was active from Apple Watch Series 5 and onwards).

This feature was expected always-on screen was ready since last year with the iPhone 13, but this was not the case.
