The Metropolitan Olympic Stadium in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, witnessed the historic classification of the Guatemalan National Team Sub20 to the World Cup in Indonesia 2013 by beating Mexico in penalty kicks. A historic scorer like Carlos ‘Pescadito’ Ruiz congratulated his countrymen and left a message to the Guatemalan Federation.

A historic scorer for Guatemalan soccer like ‘Pescadito’ Ruiz used his social networks to congratulate the World Cup generation technically directed by the Mexican Rafael Loredo. And in that same message he criticizes the federations of his country for not supporting chapín football.

“That the victory bus be as small as the defeat bus where only fit the players and coaching staff. Go tight to glory with your families and those who supported you from start to finish. Nobody else deserves to enjoy your sweat and effort. Congratulations, enjoy”, he wrote on his Twitter account.

Guatemala tied 1-1 with Mexico in the Sub20 of Concacaf, which is held in Honduras. Arquímidez Ordóñez scored the first goal of the match for the Guatemalans against 39′ then Mexico found equality against 74′ through Esteban Lozano.

To the 88′ Lozano was able to put the second for Mexico and goalkeeper Jorge Moreno grew up to stop the charge. Already in the penalties, the figure of the chapín goalkeeper stood firm and the final result was 2-1 for Guatemala.

It is the second time that Guatemala qualifies for a Sub World Cup20 after the performance made in the appointment of Colombia 2011.

Now the achievement could be greater if they manage to beat the Dominican Republic in the semifinals this Friday. In case of winning they would ensure their presence in the Paris Olympic Games 2024.
