A fire that began this Sunday morning and lasted for several hours destroyed more than 250 businesses within the so-called ” Mercado de los Corotos”, in Caracas, without leaving any fatalities, reported Venezuelan authorities.
“We offer our support to merchants of more than 250 premises that suffered losses,” said the head of the Government of the Capital District, Nahum Fernández, on Twitter, who went to the scene to inspect the work of the firefighters, who are investigating the causes of the incident.
“We do not know how it caught fire, there is an action by the firefighters, who thank God were able to prevent this from being transferred to where the families are,” said Fernández, in a video broadcast on social networks, together with the mayor of Caracas , the official Carmen Meléndez.
The official explained, through Twitter, that the 250 entrepreneurs who had your businesses in this place will receive support from the Government.
“Everything was lost on these three floors. We know the pain of the loss of all this lifelong effort of yours, but here we are to give you all the support. Thank God there were no human losses, the material is recovered and that is why we are here, “he said.
The Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro, reissued, on the same social network, the publication in which Meléndez and Fernández assure that the fire has already been controlled and that the affected merchants will have the support of the Executive.
