remains-of-a-baby-found-at-new-york-city-hall's-water-treatment-plant

Supposed parts of the human body of a baby were found yesterday in a water treatment facility of the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) in the Bronx.

The horrendous discovery was made in the water pollution control plant on 1270 Ryawa Avenue, in the Hunts Point neighborhood.

Workers saw the possible human remains, described as a leg from the knee down, including the foot, on a conveyor belt as recycled materials passed by shortly before 9 a.m. yesterday They stopped the conveyor belt and searched for additional remains, but found none, according to ABC News.

“Workers quickly closed the door to the facility following the horrific discovery while police detectives interviewed employees,” detailed amNY.

In a preliminary investigation, the police think that it is a child’s leg, possibly from a newborn. It is not clear if it was thrown there on the spot or if it came from the water and got caught in the system.

The medical examiner must determine if it is a human part, its age and the time of separation from the rest of the body.

This floor of the New York City Hall is an initial filtering point for the entire Bronx, so the possible remains could come from any part of the municipality.
