robert-lewandowski's-dart-to-xavi-hernandez:-“you-have-to-know-how-to-win-and-not-how-to-play-to-win”

For Xavi Hernández, technical director of FC Barcelona, there is no other way to win than to play well. However, so far this season, the team has not shown its best football nor has it beaten direct rivals, such as Real Madrid in LaLiga, and Bayern Munich and Inter Milan in the Champions League.

In an interview with the newspaper La Vanguardia, Robert Lewandowski, the star signing of the Barça team, considers that the team is undergoing reconstruction and needs time to achieve the objectives. However, he considers that they need to learn to find the way to be victorious in high-impact matches.

“In football, sometimes you have to know how to win and not how to play to win. With everything that Barcelona has suffered in recent years, it cannot be expected that everything will change in a month. It needs time and it will surely improve; and even, he will be the best again”, said the former striker of the Bavarian team.

Along the same lines, he added: “Obviously, I’m not happy. Barça should be in the last 16 (of the Champions League), but before coming I was already aware that the first season could be tougher than it surely should. We are in a reconstruction process, which needs time. You have to be more patient”, he stressed.

“These have been complex moments”

The Pole, who leads the scorers table in LaLiga with 13 celebrations in 12 days, recalled that the injuries before the last FIFA break, such as those of Ronald Araújo and Jules Koundé, caused Barcelona to lose “that stability” that it showed in the first games of the season.

“These have been complex moments, because we have had to play several games without five or six players. Especially important have been the casualties in defense, and that has made us lose that stability. We were growing as a team and we stopped suddenly”, he stated.

Similarly, Lewandowski clarified that he does not regret signing with the Barça entity. In fact, according to his words, “it has been very easy” to adapt to Spotify Camp Nou, where he felt “something magical” from the first day he stepped onto the pitch.

“I’m in the club I want, and when you feel comfortable and happy everything is easier. I am experiencing new things as a footballer and as a human being; although I knew that the first season was not going to be easy, but it was like a big challenge for me. Sometimes, you have to get out of your comfort zone and face new challenges in life”, he concluded.
