trump-gets-supreme-court-to-temporarily-suspend-tax-returns-to-congress

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, John Roberts, temporarily blocked former President Donald Trump from having to submit his tax reports to the House of Representatives.

The former president requested on Monday a emergency decision to the Supreme Court, because it was ordered to deliver the information no later than Thursday.

The Supreme Court makes this decision to review the case and determine if the block is permanent or not .

The former president’s team of lawyers sent the petition on Monday, after last Friday the Court of Appeals in Washington, DC approved that the IRS could send the tax reports to the Committee on Ways and Means.

“This case raises important questions about the separation of powers that will affect all future presidents,” Trump’s lawyers told the Supreme Court.

Another argument that Trump’s lawyers have used to avoid the disclosure of information is the fear that the information will be made public and “put your client at risk”.

The request was made directly to Presiding Judge Roberts, who has authority over emergency petitions.
