A North Carolina man won $100,000 on an instant lottery ticket he received as a birthday gift from his wife.

Charles Cagle, of the city of Asheboro, told North Carolina Education Lottery officials that his wife bought him an early birthday present at the Ready Mart on South Fayetteville Street.

“My wife bought the ticket for my birthday. It’s 29. I’m going to be 71,” said the lucky winner, according to UPI.

Cagle said he called his wife when he saw the $20 Mega 7 Scratch-Off ticket had a $100,000 prize.

“I called her and told her that I needed to look at something. We sit quietly for a minute to make sure, then we feel really happy,” added the birthday boy.

The winner said that he still finds it hard to believe that he had such good luck.

“When it is (the money) in the bank, I will believe it,” he added.

Cagle said he plans to use part of his winnings to pay off some debts.
