The Mexican team Mazatlán fired this Sunday the Argentine coach Rubén Omar Romano and along with him eight players from the North American country, as a result of the poor results in the Clausura 2023 tournament.

With two wins, one draw, 14 losses and seven points, Mazatlán occupies the last place in the Clausura, which closes its preliminary phase this Sunday, in which the team showed the worst defense with 41 goals conceded in 17 games and its attack it was the weakest fifth, with just 19 annotations.

“The Mazatlán FC board of directors informs that it has decided to end the relationship with the technical director Rubén Omar Romano and his work team, whom we thank for the effort made,” says a statement from the board posted on his Twitter account.

The team office also confirmed the loss of eight Mexican players, defenders Enrique Cedillo, Luis Quintana, Oswaldo Alanís, Raúl Sandoval, Emilio Sánchez and Efraín Orona and midfielders Marco Fabián and Fernando Illescas.

As if that were not enough, the board of directors has made the Uruguayan goalkeeper Nicolás Vikonis and the Argentine striker Ariel Nahuelpán transferable.

“The canyon board is committed to carrying out an exhaustive analysis to determine who will be part of the sports reconstruction project that the club will have thinking about the Opening 2023”, adds the informative note.

Mazatlán does not have a powerful squad and it remains to be seen if for the Apertura the team receives a good injection of players that will allow it to be the protagonist in the league tournament.

Among the many aspects that the group will have to improve with the arrival of the new coach and the hiring that is expected is the performance in their stadium, in which they won one game and lost eight in the Clausura.
