After the draw for the group stage of the Champions League, the UEFA awards ceremony for Best Coaches and players, both male and female, took place.

The winner for Best Women’s Soccer Coach went to Sarina Wiegman, DT of the England team. Which led the team to a world final, which ended up losing to Spain.

The Dutch coach, in addition to giving her words of thanks to the England team, took the opportunity to give a few words about the controversy of the Rubiales case and support Jenni Hermoso.

“It hurts me as a woman, as a mother and as a daughter what is happening. I dedicate this award to the entire Spanish team”, commented Wiegman.

The Spanish player Aitana Bonmatí was chosen as the winner of the award. The youngster from FC Barcelona was key to obtaining the Women’s World Cup.

After having a season with incredible numbers by scoring 52 goals and winning the treble with Manchester City. He closed his season with this European Player of the Year award, beating Kevin de Bruyne and Lionel Messi.

Pep Guardiola once again Best Coach

Without a doubt, Guardiola is one of the people most responsible for Manchester City’s great year, which is why he also ended up winning the award for Best Coach on the Continent this season. Thus adding his third prize, after winning it in 2009 and 2011.
