An Oakland County man hit the jackpot and won a $1 million jackpot with his Michigan Lottery scratch-off ticket. However, at first, the man thought his ticket was fake.
The lucky winner, a 29-year-old man who preferred to keep his identity a secret, took home one of the three top prizes in the Lucky Match game, which costs just $10, according to the Michigan Lottery.
The player bought his winning ticket at a BP gas station, located at 3700 Joslyn Road, in the city of Auburn Hills.
“I started scratching the ticket and I won on the first line I scratched. I thought the ticket was fake when I revealed the ‘1MIL’ symbol, so I scanned it into the Lottery app. “The winner told Michigan Lottery authorities when he went to collect the money from him.
“When the $1 million confetti appeared, I thought I was dreaming! I shouted: ‘Wake me up! This can not be real!’ “I called my family immediately to tell them the good news,” she added.
Despite doubting its authenticity, the player went to collect his prize at the state lottery headquarters and there decided to receive a one-time payment of around $693,000 instead of annual payments.
The man plans to use his new fortune to start a business and provide financial support to his family.
