This Thursday, a batch of tickets for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games went on sale again, however, the prices are not so affordable for many interested parties. The cheapest tickets available for various big-name athletics sessions start at $570.

According to a report from The Athletic, at least 400,000 tickets were released this Thursday. The most affordable ticket for any athletics session, an experience that spans three to four hours and includes medal competitions, is listed at $418.

For those interested in enjoying three days of athletic events, the cheapest ticket currently available is in category B, worth $570. In category A, these tickets reach $1,064 dollars. As for the penultimate day of competition, Friday, August 9, prices rise to $750 dollars in Category B and $1,075 dollars in Category A.

Organizers made a total of 10 million tickets available for the Olympics, with the initial promise that one million of them would be priced at $26.

Despite this, it was confirmed that almost half of the tickets available to the general public would be in the range of $55 dollars or less.

These high athletics ticket prices come amid reports that metro ticket prices will almost double over the Games period next year.

Valérie Pécresse, president of the Paris region, justified the temporary increase in metro fares as “fair” and necessary due to the additional demand they will place on the city’s transportation network. The cost of a single ticket will go from $2.28 dollars to $4.34 dollars.

This marks a notable difference from the 2012 Olympic Games in London, where each ticket included a free transport pass.

In addition, accommodation prices on platforms such as Airbnb have increased up to six times their normal rates, while hotels have also adjusted their prices upwards. A report from the Paris Tourist Office revealed that hotel prices will increase by 314% between the summers of 2023 and 2024.

The Olympic Games are scheduled to be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024, followed by the Paralympic Games from August 28 to September 8. More than 15 million visitors are expected to attend this great sporting celebration.
