Former President Donald Trump called for President Joe Biden to undergo a cognitive test, after the Democratic president’s medical team submitted a medical report Wednesday without including cognitive testing.
“Corrupt Joe Biden must undergo a cognitive test,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “Maybe then we can find out why he makes such terrible decisions. I took two of them and beat them both (no mistakes!).”
And he added: “All presidents, or people who want to be president, should take this test compulsorily!”
However, President Biden’s team has rejected this possibility. White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre explained on Wednesday that the cognitive study is not necessary, amid criticism of Biden for his constant confusion.
“The president does not need a cognitive test. And this is not my opinion, it is the opinion of his doctor and that of his neurologist. (…) He undergoes a cognitive test every day, when moving from one topic to another,” said the spokesperson.
Biden is fit
Jean-Pierre added that the president has been able to carry out his work in the last three years and stressed that “we must not forget that he is leading a historic Presidency.”
On the other hand, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, who was in charge of the president’s medical examination, issued a statement to the press in which he highlighted Biden’s physical and mental abilities.
“The President feels well and this year’s physical examination identified no new concerns. “He continues to be able to perform his duties and fully executes all of his responsibilities without exemptions or accommodations,” O’Connor wrote.
Democrats, or at least the Biden campaign, are likely to use the medical report to defend Biden against criticism of his alleged physical and mental inability to serve another four years in the White House, as Trump has done.
