The NBA pilot, the American Rajon Rondo, announced this Tuesday his retirement from the best basketball in the world after a career of 16 seasons. He explained that his goal from now on will be to dedicate himself completely to his family.

“Yes, I’m done. I want to spend time with my children. It has been a fantastic time, I appreciate the brotherhood I have had with my teammates, bonding and learning over the years and that they have made me the man I am today. Ups and downs, it’s been a part of my life,” Rondo said on the All the Smoke podcast.

Congratulations on a great career, Rajon Rondo! 🙌

The point guard has not participated in the league since the 2021-2022 season, in which he played a total of 39 games with the Lakers and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Throughout his career, Rondo was named to the All-Star team four times and won two NBA championship rings. One with the Celtics in the 2007-2008 campaign and the other with the Los Angeles Lakers in the Orlando ‘bubble’ in 2020.

In 16 seasons, Rondo also played for the Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Clippers.

The 38-year-old former player averaged 9.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 7.9 assists per game throughout his career. Regarding his career, Rondo highlighted the “luck” he had to be surrounded by players like Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnet, LeBron James, Anthony Davis, among others.

“For me, when I entered this sport, it was not a matter of money, the important thing was the time you dedicated to it in the summer. You had to work, getting here was not a dream, it was a goal. Stay disciplined during college, sacrifice to get there. “I understand what it has cost me and luckily I have been surrounded by the right people who have helped me get to the right place,” she said.
