Tigres de la UANL in Liga MX, who played 13 minutes with one more man on the field, tied 1-1 this Tuesday with Columbus Crew, MLS champion, in the first leg of the Copa de Copa quarterfinals. Concacaf Champions.
The Frenchman André Pierre Gignac put the Mexican team in the window at the Lower Field in Columbus, but the Uruguayan Diego Rossi left everything the same.
Columbus started better, with dominance in the middle of the field, however, it was the Mexicans who went ahead.
In the 18th minute, Diego Laínez entered from the right wing, made a cut in the area and assisted Gignac, who was lethal with a header to score the first of the match.
The locals pressed; They created danger, twice with Colombian Marino Hinestroza reaching the area, until in the 43rd minute Rossi took advantage of a mistake by Sebastián Fierro and tied the match with his left foot.
The MLS team maintained the initiative but lacked aim, resentful of the absence of their Colombian scorer Juan Camilo Hernández. The Mexicans, with little attacking attitude, defended well.
In the 77th minute Aidan Morris was sent off for a double warning, after which Tigres attacked. The Crew held on well at the back and rescued the tie.
It will be next Tuesday, April 9, when the second leg of the series is held, that Tigres will return to Monterrey and go in search of qualification to the semifinals of the tournament.
