A change in routine turned out to be the key to success for a Caroline County, Maryland, man who decided to try his luck at a different store and won a big lottery prize.
During his weekend shopping, the man, who owns a transportation company, stopped at the Greensboro Tiger Mart store to play two games of the Pick 5 game.
According to the Maryland Lottery, this change of location was very favorable for him, as he hit the jackpot and won a $50,000 prize in the noon drawing on May 4.
The lucky winner, accustomed to always buying his tickets at another establishment and directly from the cashier, opted this time to use the vending machine.
“I couldn’t breathe after checking my ticket,” the lucky winner told lottery officials.
“I just sat there looking at the numbers,” he added.
Beating odds of 1 in 100,000 to win the $50,000 grand prize, the man already has plans for his new fortune.
And he said that he plans to invest most of it in his transportation business, although he also plans to take a vacation and help his family financially.
